London Diploma Course in Aromatherapy & Therapeutic MassageDiploma Course Introduction |
||
| The
aim of the Institute is to teach Aromatherapy as a complete healing art — one
which, although complementary to primary healthcare, takes a truly
holistic approach to the therapy. By making traditional healing wisdom
a major focus, theoretical knowledge is able to develop hand-in-hand
with intuitive and practical skills.
With his background in Oriental medicine and Shiatsu, Gabriel Mojay has developed an approach to Aromatherapy that unites a sound scientific perspective with the time-honoured principles of the world’s most highly developed vitalistic system: traditional Oriental Medicine. Oriental diagnosis allows us to select the most appropriate essential oils for a wide range of ailments — as well as minor conditions where no clearly defined disease exists. Rather than focus solely on a client’s symptoms, our inherently holistic approach concentrates instead on addressing the underlying imbalances at the root of any health problem. At the same time, we give our Aromatherapy Diploma students a firm foundation in the various scientific aspects of Aromatherapy, including the biology and chemistry of essential oils, as well as their safe application based on the latest research. The Institute is fortunate in this regard to have leading international Aromatherapy educators Rhiannon and Bob Harris on its faculty, as their in-class instruction on these subjects is without parallel. The fact that the first half of these studies takes place in the South of France, the world centre of essential oils, further enhances students’ understanding of their origin and production. Our study of over 60 essential oils and their major chemotypes involves, therefore, a thorough analysis of their chemical composition and symptomatic uses as well as their fundamental energetic effect on the body and mind. In a similar way, our highly-respected principal Therapeutic Massage instructor, Donna Robbins, combines a sound anatomical approach to massage instruction with one that incorporates key elements of the holistic style of massage. And together with learning the classical movements of Swedish Massage, Diploma Course students study soft tissue manipulation, passive stretching and joint mobilisation. The Institute endeavours to produce professional Aromatherapists who possess not only an excellent knowledge of essential oils and massage styles, but a deeper grasp of how plant essences and bodywork can heal and transform. Graduates of our Diploma Course know the confidence that comes from a rich and comprehensive insight into the world of aromatic oils, together with therapeutic skills they will actually feel in their hands. Aromatherapy is a special system of natural healing, and demands a special approach to its instruction. There can be no short cuts to the mastery of a practice that is as deep and as multi-faceted as Aromatherapy ~ in terms of its scientific foundations, ‘hands-on’ practice and therapeutic dynamics. The Diploma Course outlined in these pages is a homage to its healing potential, while your participation in the programme it describes will, we sincerely believe, be the learning experience of a lifetime... |
